Brian Baltimore is currently Country Finance Manager for ContourGlobal based in Kigali, Rwanda. In this role he oversees financial planning & forecasting, risk management, tax and regulatory issues, and operational strategy for ContourGlobal’s 0m methane gas-to-electricity project (KivuWatt). KivuWatt is Rwanda’s first independent power producer and was named “Africa Power Deal of the Year” in 2011 by Euromoney’s Project Finance magazine. He also focuses on developing power projects (both acquisitions and greenfield) within East and Southern Africa.
Before joining ContourGlobal, Brian spent 7 years working in public sector project finance and project management roles with the Millennium Challenge Corporation and USAID focusing on the energy, water and financial services sectors. He has also been a consultant for the Asian Development Bank, the International Finance Corporation and numerous international companies. In this capacity he has lived/worked in Nigeria, Kenya, Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia, Afghanistan and, most recently, Rwanda.
Brian has taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses on corporate finance, project management and economic development at the University of Maryland, College Park, University of Massachusetts, Boston and the National University of Lesotho.
Brian holds Masters Degrees in International Finance and Economic Development from The Fletcher School, Tufts University and The Ohio State University respectively and undergraduate degrees in economics and government from Capital University.
