Charlotte Goemans works for the International Labour Organization (ILO) as an Associate Expert on Child Labour and Youth Employment in the Dar es Salaam Country Office covering the United Republic of Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. Prior to joining the ILO, she worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) where she was the lead author of a joint FAO/IFAD/CTA publication on ‘Youth and agriculture: challenges and concrete solutions’.
She conducted impact assessments of IFAD projects on vulnerable rural populations in sub-Saharan African countries, particularly on women, people living with HIV/AIDS and youth. She carried out surveys and regional consultations with rural youth from all over the world, and presented the outcomes of these processes at various international events including the 2013 Committee on World Food Security.
Charlotte is a Belgian national and speaks English, French, Flemish and Italian fluently and is learning Swahili.
