Mr. Cometto is an international development practitioner who believes that bottom-up approaches and market-based solutions are best fit to achieve developmental goals and fight poverty. After a successful career in the private sector, he decided to apply its accumulated professional expertise in business management to the field of entrepreneurship in emerging and frontier markets, fostering the emergence of locally rooted enterprises that provide both financial return to their investors and social return to their communities.
Prior to joining the international development arena, Mr. Cometto held key business management positions across a wide range of industries (from industrial products to services) and companies sizes (from entrepreneur to medium and large multinationals). He worked for companies as diverse as BNP Paribas, a large French bank, Michelin Group, the worldwide leader in tires and Ariston Thermo Group, a multinational company leader in the manufacturing and marketing of water and space heating solutions.
Mr. Cometto holds an MSc in Management from HEC Graduate School of Business in Paris and a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). During its years in international business, he was given the opportunity to travel and work throughout Asia, America, Africa, Oceania and Europe. Mr Cometto is fluent in English, Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese and Italian.
By serving on GYIN’s board, Fabrizio wishes to support entrepreneurial initiatives from the youth and for the youth, conscious that SMEs are a powerful instrument to job creation and a key element to solve the issue of youth unemployment in developing countries.
